ABE - Darknite

Better known as her alias, Darknite. She is the matriarch of the Batinicus clan currently residing in Spyro's world. The Batinicus themselves are shapeshifting demons with the ability to travel to different dimensions, but at the cost of great physical and mental strain on their bodies. Without the assistance of powerful magic from some kind of artifact, they are forced to sleep for many, many years before they fully recover to set out in the new world they traveled in.

Their true forms resemble a mix between something like a wolf, a bat, and very, very loosely, a gryphon. While in their humanoid form, female Batinicus are digitigrade, while male Batinicus are plantigrade.

Their feral form is more than twice the size of their humanoid form, and resemble wolves with a distinct bat-like, or reptilian snout(Depending on the individual).

The clan itself consists of six adults(Well five now, since Shiekra is dead), including herself, and two children. After the small group (And the rest of her race) was banished from their home, and scattered across the cosmos, the 8 of them ended up in Spyro's world, where dragons were the dominant race.

She took it upon herself to lead her kind into making a new home for themselves in this world that was alien to them, while trying to figure out a way to get off of it. That wouldn't be discovered until centuries later, and during that time, they've grown a taste for dragon flesh. Thus, they "integrated" themselves into the dragon world's nature balance; becoming hunters of the great beasts themselves, while leaving no trace of their existence to their prey.

Basically, they became the "boogymen" for dragons. Eventually, they found someone capable of powerful magic when they tried to eat him. Instead of attempting to destroy Melissara and her clan, he makes a bargain with them. If they slew Cynder and her offspring, and brought Spyro back to him alive, he'd give them an ancient artifact that would amplify their dimensional hopping powers; This would give them a means to leave Spyro's world, without causing great mental and physical strain on themselves.

Some of Melissara's clan was comfortable enough to live in the dragon planet, but she knew eventually, the dragons would eventually find out their existence, and actually seek them out to exterminate them. For the safety of her kind, she accepts his bargain, and takes all of the adults to fulfill her end of the bargain.

And...that's what leads to the comic "A Bittersweet End".

Personality wise, Melissara is cynical, and somewhat xenophobic towards other species, thinking they may be a threat in some form of fashion to her clan. Every decision she makes, she's thinking what would be best for them in the long run. She has a playful nature when she's relaxed; this can often be seen when she's alone with her second-in-command, Thunderhawk.

They are not mates, but they are generally seen being affectionate towards another if one or the other needs/desires it. She was especially protective of her younger cousin, Shiekra, the only blood relative of hers that ended up with her on Spyro's planet. Melissara's family was hurled into a different dimension altogether. She generally doesn't want Shiekra to participate in dragon hunts, mostly because the younger Batinicus is a bit of a hot-head, and that might very well get her hurt.

...which..it did, her neck was crushed by Cynder.

Threatening the life of one of her own, will very well send her into a rage, and she will not stop until the offender is good and dead.
