Spyro - ABE: DanDan

SPOILERS AHEAD! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!

Another character that will appear in "A Bittersweet End". Dandan is Hakon's foster mother, and the mate/wife to Long (The green dragon that appeared with Hakon in a colored image).

She and Long play an important role in Hakon's life; they are the ones that raised him as their own son when he was brought to them by both Hunter and Elora when the Dragon War began. Ember, now successfully seized Spyro under her collar, sends him, Malefor, and the rest of her army to lay waste to the western continents of the dragon world. The opposing natives and dragons, lead by Guardian Terrador, wage war against Ember's dark army. Though putting up a struggle that held back her army's push to conquer, they were no match for the combined powers of two legendary purple dragons at the same time. Terrador's resistance was eventually scattered, most annihilated.

The resistance that survived were taken as prisoners of war, never to be seen again. Fortunately, Ember is totally unaware that the last of Spyro and Cynder's children survived the assassination, prior to the Dragon War. Hakon was discovered by Hunter and Elora, after they've been tipped off by the locals near their old cave that they've been hearing sounds of crying, just days after Cynder's murder. Hunter and Elora discover Cynder's decaying corpse, as well as those of her children that the Batinicus didn't bother to eat.

They eventually discover the source of the crying, which was little Hakon, obviously distraught from witnessing his mother's death, sleeping next to the corpse. With no sign of Spyro, the two immediately decided that it was best to take Hakon to a safer place after burying Cynder's body out of respect inside of the cave.

Once the Dragon War began, Hakon was whisked away towards the vast ocean that forms a natural barrier between the western continents and the eastern continents. He, Elora, and Hunter, were able to successfully reach the shores of the Eastern territory, after weeks on relatively small, but sea-worthy boat.

News of the Dragon War had already reached the serpentine dragons of the East, and they've been erecting magical wards that prevented creatures of pure malice to cross over to the East. Hakon was brought to one of the most respected dragons, Long, of the Eastern kingdoms by Elora and Hunter, where the two pleaded to him to raise him away from the dangers of the war.

At first, Long thought that they were lying initially, and were spies to try and find a away to bring down the wards the Eastern dragons have placed upon vast edges of the continents. Fortunately, his wife, Dandan, is gifted in the extremely rare powers of Telepath and Psionic. She reads the memories of both Hunter and Elora, as well as Hakon. Urged by his mate to reconsider, he eventually agrees to take Hakon in after ordering Dandan to wipe his horrid memories that he witnessed in his dead mother's cave.

Aaand I won't spoil anymore.

I based Dandan's appearance off of Epona from the Legend of Zelda series, and a Reindeer. That's why she looks something more similar to a horse, rather than a reptilian dragon. She has the power to use Psionic abilities and telepathy, an extremely rare gift that was thought to be lost over the generations.

She's very soft-spoken, and a devoted mother to Hakon. She loves him as a son, even though they are not related by blood.
